April Hamilton- Director

Hello! I am the Director here at First Friends daycare.  I started working here in 2003 as a preschool room teacher and have since worked with all the age groups.  During this time I was promoted to the Assistant Director position which I held for 12 years until just recently taking over as Director when our wonderful former Director Ann Stewart decided it was time to retire after 31 years. I have my ECE diploma from NSCC and am considered a Level 2 ECE.

 I began working at what it is now known as First Friends Daycare in January 1993. I studied Early Childhood Education at community college in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, graduating in 1990. Born and raised in Newfoundland, I moved to Lower Sackville in the fall of 1992. Working with children has always been a passion of mine. No matter what kind of day you’re having, they can always make you smile! I think it’s important to always show kindness to a child and their parents because you never know how their day began. Twenty-three years later, and after becoming a mom to three of my own children, I am still enjoying being at daycare teacher to the fullest!

Linda Hubbard – Toddler Room

I have worked for First Friends Daycare since 1991 and have worked in the daycare field for over 24 years.  I received my ECE from the Institute for Early Childhood Education and Development Services (Now IHSE).  Born in Halifax and raised in Sackville.  I am a mother of two children.  I enjoy working at First Friends Daycare as we re more than just teammates, we are like a big family. I love working with the children and seeing them learn and grow.

Annette Lewis – Assistant Director and Pre-School Room

I began working at First Friends Daycare as support staff in 2014. In 2017  I achieved my ECE level 1 and January 2024 i achieved my ECE level 2, I became Assistant Director in the spring of this year. I enjoy working with children, being able to help guide and watch them grow and develop into strong individuals gives me so much joy. There is nothing like see a child problem solve for them self and see the pride in their eyes when they realize they can do it by themselves !!
